Atlanta Kennel Club March Meeting

The March Meeting is cancelled.

Program (will be rescheduled)

It’s that time of year again when you are advised to keep women and children secured at home. For those of you that have recently moved to Georgia and are unaware of this warning, it means the Georgia legislature is in session. That old joke is probably no longer applicable; women and children are probably safe from direct threat by the legislators. However, our rights as dog owners and breeders come under new and renewed threats each year.

Fortunately for us and all dog owners in the state, Gail LaBerge, Atlanta Kennel Club Life Member and President of the Georgia Canine Coalition, has been busy working to protect the rights of dog owners at the state capitol. Gail will be at our March Meeting to give us an update on legislation that may affect our rights as dog owners and breeders. The GCC’s work is essential to protect our rights that are constantly threatened by the Animal Rights groups. Come to our March meeting to learn about the GCC’s work and how each of us came help in those efforts.

The First Kennel Club in Georgia

We serve the community of Dog lovers in greater Atlanta by sponsoring Dog shows, Obedience, Agility, and Rally.

The Atlanta Kennel Club is an all-breed dog club. It has served the dog fancy in metro Atlanta, Georgia since 1900. Its mission is to promote, advance and protect the interests of purebred dogs and to encourage good sportsmanship at all purebred events as recognized by the American Kennel Club, and to educate the fancy, government and the public regarding responsible dog ownership. The Atlanta Kennel Club is a member of the American Kennel Club.

Today, we serve communities from Alpharetta to Palmetto, Lithonia to Marietta, Stone Mountain to Mableton, giving dog fanciers in the entire metro area a club to call their own. Members meet monthly for dinner and an informative speaker. We sponsor two major dog shows annually which attract over 3000 entries each.

The Atlanta Kennel Club invites you to join with us in our love of Dogs and the Sport of Dogs. Visit our meetings, which are open to the public, and above all, come to our Dog Shows! There you will find the finest dogs of every breed - and their enthusiastic owners. We love our dogs, and love having fun with our dogs!

The Atlanta Kennel Club was able to provide this Pet Disaster Relief Trailer to the Georgia Emergency Management Agency through the AKC Reunite Program.  Reunite was formed by the American Kennel Club to provide much needed pet disaster relief.  The trailers would be taken to the site of emergency shelter for pet owners so that victims of disasters could be assured that their beloved pets would be cared for near them.  This program was prompted by the many instances in recent disaster situations where pet owners often risked their own lives rather than leave their pets behind while they were taken to emergency shelters. The Atlanta Kennel Club is proud to be the first kennel club in the country to provide this valuable asset to our state.
