What We Do
We serve the community of Dog lovers in greater Atlanta by sponsoring Dog shows, Obedience, Agility, and Rally.
OUR PAST…The Atlanta Kennel Club is an all-breed dog club serving the dog fancy in metro Atlanta, Georgia since 1900. Its mission is to promote, advance and protect the interests of purebred dogs and to encourage good sportsmanship at all canine events as recognized by the American Kennel Club, and to educate the fancy, government and the public regarding responsible dog ownership. The Atlanta Kennel Club is a member of the American Kennel Club.
OUR PRESENT…Today, we serve communities from Alpharetta to Palmetto, Lithonia to Marietta, Stone Mountain to Mableton, giving dog fanciers in the entire metro area a club to call their own. Members meet monthly for dinner and an informative speaker. We sponsor two major dog shows annually which attract over 3000 entries each. We also offer
competitions in Obedience, Rally Obedience, Canine Good Citizenship, Trick Dog, Agility, Scent work, Barn
Hunt, Coursing, Diving Dogs, and other Canine Sporting events. There is something for every dog and its

The Atlanta Kennel Club was able to provide this Pet Disaster Relief Trailer to the Georgia Emergency Management Agency through the AKC Reunite Program. Reunite was formed by the American Kennel Club to provide much needed pet disaster relief. The trailers would be taken to the site of emergency shelter for pet owners so that victims of disasters could be assured that their beloved pets would be cared for near them. This program was prompted by the many instances in recent disaster situations where pet owners often risked their own lives rather than leave their pets behind while they were taken to emergency shelters. The Atlanta Kennel Club is proud to be the first kennel club in the country to provide this valuable asset to our state.
APPLYING FOR A TRAILER
To apply for a trailer, local Emergency Management needs to complete and submit an AKC Pet Disaster Relief Grant Application with a local AKC Club. Once the Grant Application is approved AKC Reunite will then send Emergency Management the AKC Pet Disaster Unit Agreement for review and signature.
